Hey, thank you for stopping by. In this article, we will be going over the Dash diet. Ultimately answering your question on what the dash diet is.
This article will be detailed and will cover all aspects of this diet. Sit back relax and let’s see what this thing is all about.
What Is The Dash Diet
It is a dieting program obviously. You can tell that just from the name. But it is more important to know its roots who’s behind it the cost etc. Which leads me to my next topic.
Who Invented the Dash Diet
Well after doing some research I found that the Dash as an actual meaning.
D – Dietary
A – Approaches
S – Stop
H – Hypertension
I also learned that no one person came up with diet. I’m not sure what group of people exactly came up with the diet. But it was multiple minds involved.
With the goal of stopping Hypertension. That is abnormally high blood pressure if you didn’t know.
The diets they have you on not only can help with blood pressure. But many have found it to help with weight loss as well. I haven’t ever personally used it.
So I can’t give you any personal testimonials.
But this program has been around since the 90’s and is still being used today. So it must have something positive going for it. In order for it to still be around today.
What The Dash Diet Claims To Do
Help you eat better. While providing lifelong healthy eating tips to help you avoid having high blood pressure. This also helps with weight loss at the same time.
They do not have junk or really fattening foods in their program.
It solely focuses on getting you healthier by giving you the blueprint on how to do such for the rest of your life.
Dash Diet Eating Plans
This diet has a boat load of eating plans. So many that they have books to guide you through them. You can view them at the link below.
As you can see they have many books for various things. Choose the one you are interested in or you can get them all if you plan on doing this diet. I don’t see how it would hurt you to have all the books.
I will let you know a few things you can look forward to eating when doing this diet though.
- Whole Grains
- Low-Fat Dairy Foods
Limited sugary drinks and red meat intake. You have a decent variety of foods to intake. This diet seems fun and not as strict as some I’ve reviewed.
Such as weight watchers. But that’s my opinion some may think weight watchers is the angel of all dietary programs. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
Why Did They Choose To Target Hypertension
Hypertension is thought to have a home in over 50+ million people in the US. That is a lot of people and many of them may be your friends and family etc.
If you have hypertension you probably aren’t too far from being overweight or already being overweight the two go together.
When you have increased weight on your body from bad eating habits etc. It takes more pressure to move blood around your body.
You need the blood to flow so you can live. But when it has to struggle to get through the excess fat in your abdominal area. You are setting yourself up to have high blood pressure.
The fat in your abdominal area is known to make the arteries to become stiff and thick.
Being in the early 90’s weight loss wasn’t as nearly as popular as it is today. A few things can be causes of that. Like the following.
Technology – Nowadays everything is on the internet and social media. If you want to see something or know something. Simply type it in on google or social media. I’m sure you will find what you are looking for in around 30 seconds or faster.
More People – The population has risen and continues to rise.
More Fast Food Resturants – There are fast food restaurants everywhere. I do mean that literally. Anywhere that there are people a fast food restaurant isn’t too far away. In the United States that is.
Not saying don’t feed the people. But why not with organic food? It’s like they want you to eat that crap and get fat. Solely to make a dollar.
With this up and coming thing plaguing the US. The dash diet hit the gold mine and targeted what thousands of people would soon need in their lives at the time.
That number would grow fastly over the years and spread just as technology did. People shared the information a lot easier and soon it wasn’t hard to get your hands on a weight loss program.
How Does The Dash Diet Work
You have to read. This is one of those programs that require most of the back-end work from you. Just like with the Atkins and volumetrics diet. You do not have trainer etc. It is mostly up to you and how extensively you follow what you read in their books.
So I will let you know upfront if you aren’t a reader or do not like to read. This program may not be ideal for you. I would suggest going with something more hands-on or has a video.
You could even use apple cider vinegar for weight loss. I did and it was an experience I will remember forever.
How Much Does The Dash Diet Cost
I couldn’t find a set price or subscription you have to sign up for. All I found is the books and I guess that’s where you will get all of what you need to do the diet correctly. None of the books are too pricey. The highest one I saw was like $17. Keep in mind that this price is subject to change over time. But as of right now all of them are very affordable compared to others I’ve seen.
This is all you need to know about the Dash Diet. I touched on all of the valuable parts of information you need. I hope you this helps you with any buying decision you had and curiosities.
This isn’t the all and all. There are tons of alternatives out there for you if this doesn’t work out. Give it 90 days and if you don’t see the results you desire drop it and move on.
That’s all I have for this one. Feel free to comment and share. Have a nice day.
