Your go-to order is something you order the same time over and over again from various places. For example, no matter where I went restaurant wise I would get chicken tenders. I ate them faithfully for years. I also ate out over 10 times a month.

Once I started cutting back on them. I didn’t ditch chicken tenders completely.

I only ate them once or twice a month. I not only felt better. But I saved some money without even trying to.

I started ordering more healthy foods. I lost 5 pounds within a 1-month time frame. I’m not saying to stop eating what you love. Just do it in moderation if it’s unhealthy. If what you love eating is healthy and beneficial to what you are trying to achieve.

It’s not easy. Salt just seems to make everything taste better. At one point in my life, I didn’t even eat food if it didn’t have salt on it that I could taste. Things like chips and popcorn are loaded with salt. It’s tons of other salty treats and snacks out there but I’m going to use chips and popcorn for examples.

If you’re from the south like me the chips and popcorn are even saltier. That’s just how we do it here. It’s not good for you at all. Extremely unhealthy really when you over indulge in it. If you eat too much salt, the extra water stored in your body raises your blood pressure.

The more you eat the higher you blood pressure will climb. The higher your blood pressure also creates a greater strain on your overall health effecting things like your heart, arteries, kidneys, and brain. The less you taste it the less you’ll crave it.

I use to skip breakfast, I soon broke that habit now I don’t go a day without. You can do this with a healthy mix of protein and whole grains. I personally like natural peanut butter and apple butter sandwiches.

It’s small quick and it sticks so you don’t really feel so hungry later on in the day. With this method alone I easily sliced off 5-10 pounds. It took time. It did not happen overnight.

But that’s if you only want to do this and this only. I’m sure implementing this with other things listed here will speed up the process. My natural peanut butter and apple butter sandwich isn’t the only route to go, though. It’s a lot more 300-Calorie Breakfast meals out there. Such as the following

  • Chocolate-Cherry Smoothie
  • Smoked Salmon And Avocado On Rye
  • Apple-Walnut Pancakes With Brown Sugar Yogurt
  • Banana-Nut Breakfast Cookies (Really Good)
  • Bacon-And-Egg Sandwich
  • Chai Oatmeal With Peaches And Pecans
  • Scrambled Egg Tostada

This is just a few more to add onto what I already suggested. Still more out there, though.


Pile On The Veggies – Vegetables Can Make The Difference

You’ve heard it since you were a kid. Vegetables are good for you to eat your vegetables. Most people take that and envision in their mind being tied to a chair and having carrots shoved down their throats. It’s not that bad. In fact, it’s not bad at all in my opinion.

If you’re not into veggies like that then you’re not the one to stand there and eat a pound of celery with no ranch. I get it but add a twist to it. Matter of fact you can make it fun.

Make it to where your eating/drinking them without knowing your eating/drinking them. It’s plenty of ways to do it. I’ll name a few you can add them on toppings on your meals, add minced broccoli to your scrambled eggs, Bake with your veggies, juice them or blend.

It’s ultimately up to you how you choose to take in your veggies. When I started doing this I started becoming full so quickly that I had no room left to eat things like chips or really rich desserts. The weight will start to diminish.


Do A Purge (No Not That Kind) 

You must do a purge in your pantry, snack box, man cave or whatever you may call it. If it’s not around you don’t have access to it. If you don’t have access to it. The less you’ll think about it and the better your eating habits will become without you having to think about it.

Don’t just clean out your pantry and leave yourself with no food then you’ll be losing weight the wrong way. Once you clean out your pantry replace the foods with lower calorie snacks, such as roasted sunflower seeds or special K cereal. Now you have no choice but to eat healthier. With great decisions come great results.

  • Peanut Butter and Apple Sandwich

Don’t Supersize It – Eat Like You Are Trying To Lose Weight 

Don’t do it big every time you go out. I used to get large everything when I ordered fast food. It’s possible to just order one item or a small order of fries with a small box of 6 nuggets.

Doing this will knock off those pounds like never before. Without you really having to put much effort into doing so. I thought it was funny how I use to go through a drive-thru and order kids meals. I ended up collecting a lot of toys in the process too.

    Great tips here. I like how practical they all are and your advise to losing weight fast does not come in pill form. Most people would be able to make these minor adjustments to their lifestyles. I’ve never struggled with my weight, but I have also always eaten really well and I live an active life style. I do, however, have friends who struggle and these tips can be really helpful. I do have one question. What is amaranth popcorn? I can’t believe I’ve never heard of it!


    1. Its a seed that can be cooked similarly to whole grains. But you can pop them to add a crunch to the already nutty flavor it provides.

      1. So you can pop the tiny little amaranth seeds just like you would pop corn? I really want to try it. I just pulled a bunch of amaranth plants out of my garden because they were growing like weeds, but now I wish I had saved one. I will have to go foraging when the ones in the fields mature.

  3. Great Insight. I am overweight and I want to loss some extra weight. I have started dieting and gym recently but I can’t control much on eating. Can we include proteins like eggs, chicken in our meal while dieting? Also is it a good option to include good fats in diet?

  4. Hi, thanks – this has given me “food for thought.” aherm… excuse the pun :). “Sweet Potato Quinoa Cakes,” I haven’t heard of those. Can you get them in the UK do you know? I’m with you on the eating late thing…. sometimes I don’t have dinner till 9pm plus, but if I eat earlier than this, then I am ALWAYS hungry later. So, sometimes I feel I will eat less calories if I have dinner late and probably do…but is this not a good idea? If I eat early, I tend to have a snack, like something on toast and crisps — plus chocolate! I only have a small amount of chocolate when I do have some, the same with all sweets – so, I’ve got the quantity down in that way. I struggle most with portion sizes for main meals and then tend to pile too much on the plate or over cook.

    1. I’m sure you can find the ingredients for it in UK. Eating late I don’t recommend it. But if you have a high metabolism it shouldn’t bother you. If you do eat late at night. Yes I would suggest you do a low calorie meal. Just to be on the safe side

    You bring up some great points in this article. By cutting back on salt this can become very beneficial to our health. I liked how you stated that by making small adjustments through eating a larger meal for breakfast or avoid super sizing meals we can actually lose a considerable amount of weight.

    Like yourself i struggle with late night cravings and sometimes it just because to difficult. Do think by eating a low calorie meal it would be OK?

  6. Ok, I am trying to turn my eating around and get a little more exercise…when I say that I’m trying, that means that I have really been working on it for a week…but I do feel better.

    I am now going on a walk at the park every day and I lift dumbbells while I am walking. This does help me to kill two birds with one stone!

    I did not EVER eat vegetables, and now I am making a shake with Kale, cucumbers and other veggies. I am proud of that, but I’m not seeing any weight loss yet.

    Clearly I need to control my food intake as well. I am very interested in your large breakfast idea. The bacon & egg sandwich and the scrambled egg toastada both sound pretty good, but the rest do not. Do you suppose that there will be a time when I will find the others to be appealing?

  8. I think a lot of people are culprits of night time eating and light breakfast. A good breakfast and not eating at night are two major ways to lose weight. Everybody does it in reverse lol.

    You mentioned that salt raises problems like blood pressure and kidney problems. However, people feel that if that’s the only problem, then it’s not a big deal. That is wrong. Salt also causes water retention. In other words, if their belly has 5 pounds of fat, then it might look like it has 7 to 10 pounds of fat because the water their makes their belly look bigger.

    Lets be real, most people try to lose weight not because of health reasons. It’s for social reasons. If they don’t realize the importance of that, then that’s what causing them to fall back to bad habits. Good information. Thank you.

  9. Great tips especially with having self-discipline. Losing weight is all about being mentally ready. I am in the process of losing my last 15 pounds and the weight loss train didn’t start moving until it click in my brain. Mentally you can do anything.

It does take a lot of discipline but so worth it when you take off the pounds. It makes you feel so much better! You never realize how much you snack until you go on a diet!
